and again

I spontaneously broke into a jog while walking the dogs today. I'm feeling guilty about not working on the Beethoven listening, and I ate half a pint of ice cream this afternoon, and I'm feeling fat. So I guess that all added up to another shot at running.

I didn't remember exactly how the c25k program starts, and I didn't have any kind of watch or device so I just counted.

Walked to the freeway overpass (probably 6 minutes)
jogged to a count of 90
walked to a count of 60
jogged to 90
walked to 60
jogged to 70
walked to 60
jogged to 60
walked to 60
jogged to 60
walked to 60
jogged to 60
walked to 60
jogged to 60
walked to 60
jogged to 45
walked the rest of the way home

Faro LOVES this - and he just might be able to convince me that running is fun. Dessie did her usual pulling back. She isn't into running. She's like me.

So anyway - I'm going to try this again. With Faro to cheer me on.

new program, maybe I'll stick with this one

Endless rain in San Francisco and endless amounts of work has led to zero running. On tour in Ohio in a boring hotel - means I try again.

Last night I was sitting in my room watching tv so I figured I might as well go walk on the treadmill and watch tv. 54 minutes - one tv show, 3 miles of walking.

Today I decided to go back to the running thing. I found a couch to 10K program that looks doable. 13 weeks. Lots of intervals. Today I did this.

5 min. @ 3 mph
1 min @ 5 mph
2 min @ 3.5 mph
1 min @ 5.5 mph
2 min @ 3.5 mph
1 min @ 6 mph
2 min @ 3.5 mph
2 min @ 3.5 mph
1 min @ 5.5 mph
2 min @ 3.5 mph
1 min @ 6 mph
2 min @ 3.5 mph
1 min @ 5.5 mph
2 min @ 3.5 mph
1 min @ 6 mph
2 min @ 3.5 mph
3 min @ 3 mph

it was easy. I'm trying to figure out the right speed to run. I'd like to be at 6 but my lungs can't do it. I think next run I'll stick to 5.5 and see how that goes.

back at it

Another month off. I really shouldn't let this happen.

On tour in Albuquerque and ate too much for dinner last night so it seemed like a good day to get going again. I did a slightly extended version of c25k week 3 - figured the altitude here would take a toll and also tried to go a little faster.

5 minutes - walk @ 3.5 mph
90 seconds - jog @ 5.5 mph
90 second - walk @ 3.8 mph
90 seconds - jog @ 6 mph
90 seconds - walk @ 3.5 mph
